Engineering artificial life is a very controversial scientific field, but Craig Venter did not let this stop him as he is apparently on the verge of creating artificial life.
According to a The Guardian newspaper report Venter has built a synthetic chromosome using lab chemicals and is on the verge of creating the first ever artificial life form.
He hails this as a massive step in the history of human kid and even punts it as a potential remedy to certain illnesses and global warming.
While it remains to be seen whether it will in fact solve problems like global warming, he is absolutely spot on by saying that it is “a very important philosophical step in the history of our species.”
Many of the greatest scientific minds have pondered the creation of life, but up to now it was not entirely clear if it was possible to artificially create life. If Venter is correct this riddle is finally solved.
“We are going from reading our genetic code to the ability to write it. That gives us the hypothetical ability to do things never contemplated before,” Venter said.
Getting ahead of itself
There may however be a twist in this tale. According to AFP Venter spokeswoman Heather Kowalski told them that “The Guardian is ahead of themselves on this.”
“We have not achieved what some have speculated we have in synthetic life,” Kowalski said. “When we do so there will be a scientific publication and we are likely months away from that.”
Controversial
Not everyone is happy about this potential artificial creation of life.
Jim Thomas from the Canadian bioethics organization ETC Group asks this about Venter’s patent on this development: “These monopoly claims signal the start of a high-stakes commercial race to synthesize and privatize synthetic life forms. Will Venter’s company become the ‘Microbesoft’ of synthetic biology?”
“For the first time, God has competition,” adds Pat Mooney of ETC Group. “Venter and his colleagues have breached a societal boundary, and the public hasn’t even had a chance to debate the far-reaching social, ethical and environmental implications of synthetic life,” said Mooney.
Expect a debate or two surrounding this issue…

When scientists can create EVERYTHING from NOTHING, then I will concede that God has competition!! Good luck with that!

God has competition. This is not new to Indian’s.According to Indian mythology Visvamitra created a trishankhu swarga. And also Einstien left unsoved the equatin gik=gki? this equation is itself a natures secrete.

God didn’t create everything out of nothing. You can’t even prove .005% of that theory. However these scientists may have actually physically proved that it doesn’t take god to create life. Finally we can stop being brainwashed and starting wars with religion.

I agree with Bob.
Furthermore: Stealing or trying to steal the plans of real geniuses, or God’s plans for that matter, and to use it to create something and label it as something of your own making are nothing but Jewish trickery.
For instance: It is a shame that the wilful ignorance of the majority of people as well as Jewish lies have led to the believe that Albert Einstein was some how a genius. It was already proven beyond reasonable doubt that Einstein has stolen the theories (plans) of German scientists and rubber stamped it as his own.
It’s no secret that true history has already proven the so-called Jews to be products of race mixing. Yes, they are the creation of their father the Devil or Lucifer who was once an Angel of Light before he rebelled against the true and Living God. Even their father lacked genius because his creation of beings outside what God declared as good, was not original by any stretch of the imagination. To steal Gods plans, make adjustments to those plans and use it to create something evil is no indication of a genius mind but of a murderer and thief.

If God didn’t create something out of nothing would this mean we are gods if we can create life even if it isn’t from nothing?
If not then there needs to be a benchmark. You can consider yourself a god if you can build something Earth like perhaps?
Personally I believe the Bible or any other religious book fails to quantify God properly. We can make assumptions like mine that God could possibly be an advanced alien race for instance…
Ag I am rambling, but I love conversations like these!

Personnaly I believe corrupt translations of the Bible and religious books based on these corruptions fail to quantify God and His people properly or reveal the plan of salvation. A true translation of God’s Word or the Bible compliments true science and reveal God’s true identity to us and show us where we as His people fit into that plan. His enemies don’t want us to get to know the truth because it will set us free from their evil designs which is only designed to destroy us and everything good on this planet.
True Christianity is based on truth and logic and is not a religion as such but a way of life.
The true reason for the First and Second World War is the fact that the white German Christians dared to expose the truth. Like Jesus Christ, which was not Jewish by any stretch of the imagination but a white Aryan man fully indwelled by the Mentality of God, they were murdered for daring to expose the truth. The world sees the passing away of Adolf Hitler and others as proof that they were wrong but history will proof them to be right. The Germans after all only tried to protect God’s handiwork.
For instance: Any sane person who reads the Red Cross reports of those times can only come to one conclusion: Six million Jews were not gassed by any stretch of the imagination. What really happened is that Jewish controlled governments bombed critical supply lines and this lead to the starvation of thousands upoun thousands of Germans, Frence Jewish and other peoples in those work camps or so called concentration camps.
The majority of today’s preacher’s are worms with no balls and money grabbing thieves.
Ultimately it boils down to this: Are you going to follow the majority into destruction or are you going to start thinking for yourself and prove all things?

God is the truth, and sent jesus here to warn us of these kind of things, and many other problems we are having on earth today that we never had even as recent as 10 years ago. so for someone to say god has compitition is ridiculas. he made the man making the sin-thetic man. that is THE TRUTH -NO COMPETITION.
what will these scientist do when all this backfires?
