Christmas is early with cheaper LCD screens on the market

Share This November 11th, 2009 Antowan

LCD screens are becoming cheaper and cheaper by the month. You can now get yourself (if you know where to go) a decent 24” screen for R2000 on special! Pricing on all screens are dropping and the reason for this in South Africa is twofold. The Rand is not being as floppy against the greenback as it always has been and production of these screens are now in full swing. One can probably argue the recuperation of R&D and all that but suffice it to say we have it pretty good as far as displays go.

The pricing let up can be experienced all around the hardware spectrum but LCD’s are now the hot stock to buy. Bigger displays just are so much more fun, especially if you can afford to stack them in multiples on your desktop and stretch that desktop all around you! The time to buy is now! The screens look good, perform brilliantly and they are getting cheaper. How low prices will go, remains to be seen, but let’s hope the Rand keeps on doing us techies a favor, at least for a little while longer.

With the retail offering coming to market recently (even if it is only on special) on a Samsung P2450H of as low as R2000 incl. VAT who wouldn’t be smiling?!!? That is for a FULL HD screen with 2ms response. Not too shabby Nigel! Now if only we can sort out the supply of X58 motherboards to South Africa, gamers would be smiling very broad indeed. :)
