Local ISP launches new ADSL data bundle, which includes limited free Wi-Fi access, for R20 per GB

The local ADSL Internet Service Providers (ISP) market has become a battleground with many service providers fighting it out for market share by drastically reducing their per-GB prices.  Some of the most impressive recent reductions include Afrihost’s R29 per GB ADSL data pricing & R14.50 per GB top-up special, and Screamer Telecoms’ uncapped 384 Kbps service for R399 per month.

The latest ISP to cut rates is MyISP which today announced that they have launched their Value Gig service, providing subscribers with 3 GB of fibre based ADSL data and 50 MB of free Wi-Fi access for R60 per month.  This equates to R20 per GB, which is cheaper than Screamer Telecoms’ R23 per GB and Afrihost’s R29 per GB.

“Since 2007 MyISP has been offering Free ADSL bandwidth (300 MB per month) to an ever increasing client base.  What we have found is that our customers need more and more bandwidth.  With this in mind, MyISP has decided to launch the 3 ALL service.  Customers will get 3 Gigabytes per month for R60, so effectively they are paying R20 a GIG per month,” said Leon Gerber, Director of MyISP. “We believe that  this is the cheapest ADSL bandwidth in the country.”

“Customers using our service will be hosted on the high speed Internet Solution (IS) fiber network,” said Gerber.  He added that users who prefer to avoid debit orders “can pay R660 upfront for 12 months and get a month Free.”
