Latest ISPA Hall of Shame names local spammers as well as known email address resellers

The Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA) recently released its latest Hall of Shame report, naming and shaming many of South Africa’s most prominent spammers.  Unsolicited bulk email, known as spam, remains a costly challenge for many of the country’s ISPs.

“There is currently significant growth in the generation of local spam and while ISPA's members do their best to keep spam out of their customers' inboxes, this does come at a cost,” ISPA said.

ISPA compiles its Hall of Shame spam list by consolidating the experiences of its members and other trusted parties, and disseminates the information so other ISPA members, ISPs and email users can make similarly informed decisions on mail they wish to receive or allow to pass over or through their networks.

The following companies and individuals have been named in the latest ISPA spam Hall of Shame report:

1. Abelusi Training Network
2. Dynamic Seminars
3. New Heights 1268
4. PPI Group
5. Bizopp "Make R1million from an investment of R100k" Scam

12. Goedkoop.co.za
13. Peter Carruthers

15. "Steven"
16. www.ketler.co.za

In another pro-active move to battle spam ISPA has also started to name companies which are engaging in local email address list reselling.  “It is the experience of ISPA's members that this activity is a significant contributor to spam originating in South Africa,” ISPA states.

ISPA names the following companies as address resellers:
