ISP changes its ambiguous terms and conditions to offer subscribers new pricing for the life of their subscription

MyBroadband yesterday reported that ICT company Redwill has launched its R24 per GB ADSL special, undercutting most competing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the market.  According to Redwill they have “reserved 1 Terabyte of ADSL bandwidth, which you can get ADSL from R 24.00 per GB”.

Redwill’s ADSL bandwidth is ‘semi-shaped’ and provisioned by Internet Solutions, and all international bandwidth is routed over fibre optic links on SAT-3 or SEACOM.

At the time of the launch the Redwill terms and conditions informed users that the special offer will only apply to the first three months, after which normal pricing of R59 per GB will apply.  Redwill Finance & Operations Manager Nicholas Reddy however said that there was some kind of “mix-up”, and that the special offer will last for the life of the subscription.

“Although Redwill’s DSL special is only valid until 31 March or until the reserved bandwidth is sold out, users signing up before 31 March will remain on the special pricing for the life of their contract. New users signing up after the special is over, will pay Redwill’s normal rates,” said Reddy.

Reddy added that Redwill is planning to launch more specials on off-peak and local bandwidth packages.
