Top downloader on Axxess’ 384 uncapped express breaks 1 TB monthly download barrier
Axxess announced in early August that their Uncapped Express+ accounts are getting full line speeds after hours and weekends, making it the first uncapped 10 Mbps ADSL account on the market.
A 384Kbps Uncapped Express+ account retails for R899 per month, and will provide speeds of up to 384 Kbps during business hours and full speeds – hence up to 10 Mbps – after hours and over weekends.
It did not take long for Axxess’ high end 384Kbps Uncapped Express+ account holders to take advantage of these higher speeds, and in August the top downloader on this account consumed no less than 1,117 GB (1.1 TB). This equates to around 80c per GB.
Six other subscribers consumed between 800 GB and 900 GB per month on their 384Kbps Uncapped Express+ account which means that they effectively paid around R1 per GB for their ADSL data.
The lowest per GB price was however not achieved on Axxess’ 384Kbps Uncapped Express+ accounts, but rather on their standard 4 Mbps Uncapped ADSL accounts retailing for R496 per month.
The top downloader on these uncapped 4 Mbps accounts consumed 776 GB per month, equating to 64c per GB. The top 10 users on these accounts consumed between 478 GB and 776 GB per month.
