Internet Service Providers (ISPs) Cybersmart, Axxess, and Axxess parent company Afrihost are among the cheapest options for consumer uncapped ADSL in South Africa.

Competition in the uncapped home ADSL market has been heating up lately, with ISPs jostling for price positioning, and launching new products to compete in the 2Mbps ADSL segment.

This is coupled with Telkom‘s current phase of ADSL line speed upgrades, which will likely see 1Mbps (previously 384Kbps) and 2Mbps (previously 1Mbps) customers re-evaluating their internet data and line rental requirements.

Uncapped ADSL products are cheaper than ever, and the higher-end products may be entering the realm of “reasonably affordable” for many ADSL users.

The table below compares uncapped ADSL products from South Africa’s largest ISPs.

The table compares data-only uncapped products, as well as those bundled with ADSL line rental. The prices do not include the standard Telkom voice line rental fee of R148.37, which is necessary in order to use an ADSL service.

Note that OpenWeb offers 6 different levels of service on their uncapped ADSL products. The “OpenWeb Standard Uncapped” was chosen for this comparison.

The cheapest options have been highlighted. The prices listed are accurate at the time of publication.
