Afrihost has apologized to its ADSL subscribers for the problems associated with the ISP’s network migration to MTN with a mystery discount.

Afrihost CEO Gian Visser told subscribers in an email that they “wanted to say sorry by giving back to you in a tangible and real way”.

The mystery discount is basically a reduction on the next invoice which consumers will have to pay for ADSL access.

According to initial feedback from Afrihost to subscribers the discounts typically ranged between 90% and 100%.

Visser added that their ADSL network has been upgraded and is performing well. “In fact recently Seacom went down for a day and all international traffic was automatically rerouted over our other international routes and nobody even noticed,” said Visser.

“We have also significantly increased overall capacity and redundancy of the network over the last while.”

Visser added that with the addition of their Cape Town and Durban IPC this weekend, overall latency should improve for clients in those regions.
