Vodacom has reduced the price of its high-end broadband advanced data bundles to fall in line with its lower end packages

Vodacom has recently slashed the price of its Vodacom Advanced packages, providing consumers with more value at lower rates.  These price cuts however only applied to lower end packages, making them cheaper per-MB than high end data bundles.

Vodacom has now rectified this situation by reducing the price of their 3 GB to 10 GB data bundles to an effective price of R0.18 per MB.  The new prices for Vodacom’s Broadband Advanced data bundles – where in bundle rates = out of bundle rates – are as follows:

Bundle Option MB/ month Monthly Subscription In-bundle MB rate Out of Bundle MB rate
MyMeg 175 175 R 129.00 R 0.74 R 0.74
MyMeg 400 400 R 165.00 R 0.41 R 0.41
MyMeg 500 500 R 185.00 R 0.37 R 0.37
MyMeg 800 800 R 269.00 R 0.34 R 0.34
MyGig 1 1024 R 285.00 R 0.28 R 0.28
MyGig 1.5 1536 R 369.00 R 0.24 R 0.24
MyGig 2 2048 R 385.00 R 0.19 R 0.19
MyGig 2.5 2560 R 469.00 R 0.18 R 0.18
MyGig 3 3072 R 565.00 R 0.18 R 0.18
MyGig 5 5120 R 945.00 R 0.18 R 0.18
MyGig 10 10240 R 1845.00 R 0.18 R 0.18
MyGig 20 20480 R 3620.00 R 0.18 R 0.18

An added bonus is that 24 month Vodacom Broadband Advanced contract subscribers get a modem included in their standard subscription rate.

At R385 per month for a 2 GB data bundle and modem on Broadband Advanced it is not only more affordable than their competitors, but also makes their 24 month Broadband Standard package – which costs R449 per month for 2.3 GB of data and a modem – redundant as it is more expensive per MB and carries higher OOB rates.

For monthly data usage of 2 GB or more it is in fact quite stupid to purchase any data bundle other than the 2 GB Broadband Advanced offering.  Even if you use 10 GB or 20 GB per month, the fact that in bundle rates are equal to out of bundle rates mean that you will also benefit from the 2 GB offering.
