Neotel responds to concerns about their decision to discontinue their high-end CDMA packages

MyBroadband columnist Ben Kelly took Neotel to task last week for discontinuing their high end CDMA services and notching on the additional compliant that the SNO was failing to compete on price.

Neotel’s Executive Head for Corporate Communication Wandile Zote responded to Kelly’s column, and for the sake of accuracy we bring you Zote’s response unedited:

Dear Ben

I refer to your complaint (The Neotel slap in the face) posted on MyBroadband on 02 September 2010.

With specific reference to our offering, we confirm that we decided to discontinue the high-end CDMA packages, NeoConnect Prime 10G, 15G and Unlimited, as well as NeoFlex Data 10G and 15G.

The packages are no longer available to new customers, but we will honour all existing contracts, as in the case of your contract. We will be contacting all affected customers three months before their contracts expire, offering them the chance to migrate to a different package at no additional cost.

New packages across the pre-paid and post-paid offers will be made available within the next few weeks.

With hindsight, we should have communicated this decision much better to our valued customers like you and I would like to extend our sincerest apology for the oversight.

In an effort to improve our communication with customers, we have launched a monthly eNewsletter called Neotel News to update our customers with product updates as well as provide them with a platform for feedback on customer service.

It is also correct that we have moved a number of customers to our Wimax network in order to alleviate some of the strain on our CDMA network. This was done to ensure the best possible performance for all our customers.

We have very compelling products, such as NeoBroadband Wimax which are targeted specifically at the larger fixed data user, whilst our CDMA network remains entirely appropriate and compelling for voice and high-speed internet users.

We remain committed to giving our customers value for money and compelling services for both our voice and data customers, pre-paid and post-paid.
