Broadband users rate their providers on reliability, support and value for money. Here are the top ranked broadband services.
MyBroadband recently conducted their latest broadband survey, asking users to rate their broadband service and tell their providers where they should improve.
The survey was completed by 3,072 respondents of which 1,811 were ADSL users, 1,032 were mobile broadband users, and the rest were fixed wireless subscribers.
In one section users were asked to rate the various components of their broadband service, including reliability, support, value for money and overall satisfaction.
Newcomer 8ta performed well in most categories and finished top with an average rating of 7.6 (out of 10), followed by Cell C HSPA+ (7.18) and Telkom’s WiMax service (7.03). It should be noted that 8ta’s strong performance, especially in the ‘value for money’ category, may be linked to their 10GB promotion which ran during the same period as the survey.
The following table provides an overview of the average scores for the most prominent broadband offerings in South Africa,

It should be noted that these are only preliminary results from the first MyBroadband survey this year, and that a range of data from other surveys and MyBroadband’s Speed Test website will be used to compile a full report about broadband services in SA.
