Vodacom has quietly launched its new “pay-once data bundles”, offering consumers 1GB of data every 30 days for a year at R1,199 – or 2GB of data every 30 days for a year at R1,999.

“With our new Pay Once Prepaid data bundles promotion, you can forget the hassle of having to buy data bundles every month. From 1 August to 30 September 2012, you can pay upfront and get either 1GB or 2GB of data every 30 days for a year,” Vodacom explained.

The new Vodacom “pay-once data bundles” are similar to Cell C’s prepaid Smartdata SIM-only packages, which offer subscribers 2GB every 30 days for a year at R1,299.

8ta is currently running a similar promotion, offering consumers 60GB of data (with another 60GB after hours data) at R1,800.

The following table provides an overview of some of the prominent prepaid data promotions from Vodacom, 8ta and Cell C.
