Telkom has removed the 20Mbps and 40Mbps broadband speed options from its lead generation page following an article about the page.

When Telkom initially launched its online lead generation system, the page offered residential and business customers broadband speeds of 384kbps, 1Mbps, 4/10Mbps, 20Mbps and 40Mbps.

The 20Mbps and 40Mbps have now been removed for both residential and business customers.

Telkom is currently involved in a country-wide network upgrade, which supports the company’s plans to increase the speed of its entry-level ADSL service to 2Mbps by 2015, and at the same time boost its highest DSL speed to 40Mbps.

Telkom previously explained that the 20Mbps and 40Mbps speeds will only be available “in the future”, and that consumers and businesses that filled in the lead-generation form will be contacted when 40Mbps DSL services become available in their area.

“Telkom will make an announcement regarding availability [of the 40Mbps broadband services] when it is appropriate to do so,” the company said.

Telkom was contacted for feedback about the removal of the 20Mbps and 40Mbps broadband options from its lead generation page, but the company did not respond by the time of publication.
