SmartVillage has unveiled their new broadband portfolio and data packages, which include 20Mbps broadband access and more affordable data packages.
From 1 September 2012 SmartVillage will offer 1Mbps, 4Mbps, 8Mbps, 10Mbps and 20Mbps broadband speeds in some residential estates where the company is operating.
SmartVillage’s 20Mbps service is offered over fibre to ensure that there are no last mile bottlenecks.
The 20Mbps service will initially only be available in Gauteng (Midrand Estates and Waterfall City), but will be extended to Kwazulu-Natal and Cape Town after the company’s backhaul infrastructure has been upgraded. These infrastructure projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
Lower rates
SmartVillage has also reduced the price of its capped data packages to as low as R7 per GB for their 50GB offering.
Subscribers have the option of purchasing a ‘broadband line’ and data separately (similar to ADSL), or purchase a bundled broadband service and uncapped data.
SmartVillage offers 1Mbps, 4Mbps, 8Mbps and 10Mbps uncapped broadband combos, priced between R339 and R1,359 per month.
There is currently no 20Mbps uncapped service, but SmartVillage’s Chris van der Walt explained that they are trialling this service.
