The fastest broadband service in SA

The 2009 Broadband Survey was launched recently, asking local broadband users to rate their service and Internet Service Provider on speed, reliability, general service levels and customer support.  The survey attracted more than 2 000 respondents, making it one of the largest surveys of its kind in South Africa.

The survey included two web based speed tests – Speedtest.net and Speakeasy.net – where respondents were asked to test their broadband service and provide details about their local and international download and upload speeds.

ADSL subscribers use a multitude of upstream providers where the upload and download speeds can vary significantly from the advertised speed.  The ADSL results in this article provide an average performance across all upstream bandwidth providers.

The following table gives an overview of the average download and upload results from the 2009 Broadband Survey.
