Trading on the cash equities market at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange was still halted by early Tuesday afternoon following a technical problem.
The bourse had been unable to resolve the problem after having to close trading only in that section early on Tuesday morning.
A similar closure on July 12 was attributed to an international connection problem between the stock exchange and MTN.
JSE trading statistics for June 2010 showed the number of cash equity trades during the first six months of 2010 was up 22.44 percent on the same period in 2009, according to the JSE’s website.
