Sony Ericsson will be introducing geotagging with its new C702 mobile phone
Cellphone maker Sony Ericsson will introduce geotagging with its C702 mobile phone out this year. Using geotagging, cellphone users can tag multimedia on their phones using standard GPS information.
Doing this means that users will be able to arrange their photos and videos not only be date or time but also by location.
Users that have taken pictures while on holiday will be able to view their travels by the route they took and associated pictures and video for each location.
"With the introduction of the geo-tagging feature to the C702, Sony Ericsson has given you the opportunity to add another dimension to your pictures" says Sonja Shear, head of marketing at Sony Ericsson Southern Africa.
"[Geotagging is] a completely new way of keeping all your memories alive, with all your travels positioned on satellite. Your photos will be placed in the precise coordinates of longitude and latitude from where they were taken."
As more phones are launched with GPS capabilities, geotagging is likely to become a standard feature in cellphones. Nokia also recently announced geotagging in its high-end phones.
