8ta recently launched a self-service iPad app that it said to assist prepaid and contract customers to manage their data bundles.

The app lets users see their airtime and data bundle balances, redeem airtime vouchers, top-up online as well as purchase new data bundles.

Amith Maharaj, a senior managing executive at Telkom Mobile and head of 8ta, said that they plan to launch similar apps for other platforms such as Android in the near future.

“Bill-shock is a real problem for data users and it is our intention to improve functionality on our apps and portals to avoid this problem”, said Maharaj.

The app is available on iTunes, in Apple’s App Store.
