Cell C increases minimum recharge amount for free calls

Cell C announced that it is increasing the minimum recharge amount for prepaid customers to qualify for the Woza Weekend offering from R5 to R10.
Woza Weekend offers Cell C post-paid and pre-paid customers 120 minutes of free weekend talk-time when they call other Cell C customers between 00h00 on Saturdays and 23h59 on Sundays. To qualify for this offer, customers now have to recharge with a minimum of R10 during the week preceding the weekend.
Cell C says that extraordinary demand and consumption has prompted Cell C to adjust this offer to ensure continued availability.
“The response to Woza Weekend far exceeded our expectations and an increase in the minimum recharge amount will enable us to extend the duration of the offering whilst maintaining high levels of service and delivery. Our customers’ reaction to our latest initiative is proof of how cost sensitive cell phone users are and has highlighted the need for value-for-money offerings,” says Zeona Motshabi, Cell C’s Chief Corporate Officer.
“Woza Weekend remains the best offer in the market as the benefit that customers receive in return still outstrip the recharge amount regardless of the increase,” Motshabi notes.
The new minimum recharge amount will apply from Monday, 23 July. Conditions for post-paid customers remain unchanged. For post-paid customers, the benefits of Woza Weekend commence once their free bundled minutes are depleted.
Cell C launched Woza Weekend on 20 June this year.
