Telkom Mobile has started advertising a “Completely Unlimited” 24-month contract promotion on its website, offering unlimited voice, SMS, and on-net data.
On-net data means the unlimited data offer only applies to connections made on Telkom Mobile’s own mobile network, and not when roaming on the MTN network.
It also carries a 10GB per month fair use limit, after which Telkom said it will throttle speeds to 128kbps. Telkom Mobile also requires subscribers to lock the SIM to a device for the duration of the contract.
The same caveats that applied to the “Unlimited Voice” contract also apply to “Completely Unlimited”. Only numbers that belong to national mobile operators, Telkom fixed-line, and Neotel qualify for unlimited calling.
According to Telkom Mobile, it reserves the right to terminate or extend the promotion without prior notice, and no ending date is provided.
The promotion starts from today (Friday, 20 September 2013).
It is available as a SIM-only deal for R1,199 per month, as well as on handset deals. Telkom Mobile’s interactive brochure lists the iPhone 5 32GB on a Completely Unlimited contract for R1,499 per month.
The deal is available to new and existing customers, Telkom Mobile said.
At the end of the contract period, Telkom Mobile said, “The service shall continue to run month to month until such time the customer decides to migrate, convert or terminate the service.” Normal conversion, migration and termination business rules apply, Telkom Mobile said.
Existing Unlimited Voice subscribers can add the unlimited SMS and data benefits to their contracts at no extra charge, according to Telkom.
“Existing subscribers on the 2GB All-Net data Unlimited Voice deal, will lose the 2GB All-Net data benefit when subscribing to the Unlimited Data & Unlimited SMS benefits of the Completely Unlimited offer,” the website states.
“These subscribers shall only be allowed to change once per 24-month agreement, for whatever reason, back to 2GB All-Net data benefit.”
