HTC Desire S SA launch date revealed

Earlier this year HTC announced they would be launching three new Android smartphones in Q2 2011: the Desire S, Wildfire S, and Incredible S.

According to HTC the new devices would “be broadly available in the European and Asian markets during Q2 2011.”

HTC said that the Desire S is the successor to the popular HTC Desire, but added that it’s design is inspired by the HTC Legend.

Where the HTC Desire had a back cover with a removable battery, the HTC Desire S is instead carved out of a solid block of aluminium.

From the images available of the HTC Desire S it also doesn’t seem to have the optical trackpad featured on the original HTC Desire.

According to the specifications from HTC, the Desire S boasts an improved camera, more RAM, and more than double the internal storage capacity of the original Desire.

The size and resolution of the display remains unchanged at 3.7 inches and 480×800 (WVGA).

Leaf International Communications, the official distributor of HTC products in South Africa, revealed that the HTC Desire S would be available in South Africa in June 2011.

The recommended retail price for the device was not available at the time of publication.
