Users that want to get their hands on the latest iPhone the second it launches in South Africa will need to go to stores participating in the launch, Vodacom and MTN told MyBroadband earlier this week.
Reports from subscribers, who had been told by stores that they would only be getting stock in January, had caused concern that the iPhone 4S would not actually be available in South Africa on 16 December.
However, both Vodacom and MTN said that there would be stock available on launch day and that customers would be able to go to certain stores on the day to apply for their iPhone 4S contract.
Customers ordering from shops on the day will be treated on a first-come first-serve basis, Vodacom explained.
