LG Electronics announced in a press statement today (15 August) that it will bring its 84-inch Ultra Definition (UD) 3D TV to this year’s IFA trade show in Berlin.

The TV boasts with a resolution four times that of existing full HD TV panels (3840 x 2160), offering 8 million pixels per frame.

LG said that this is made possible in large part by its Triple XD Engine. The additional Resolution Upscaler Plus allows images from external sources such as hard drives, mobile devices and user-generated content websites to be rendered in perfect detail.

According to LG, the UD 3D TV features a 2.2 speaker system consisting of two 10W speakers and two 15W woofers.

LG’s 84-inch UD 3D TV is currently available in Korea and will be available in South Africa soon, the company said.
