A new “garnet red” version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will launch in South Africa during September 2012, Samsung SA announced in a press statement today (28 August 2012).

“The Garnet Red Galaxy S III comes just in time, as South Africans begin to get into the festive spirit,” commented Craige Fleischer, director of mobile communications at Samsung SA.

Limited numbers of the latest iteration of Samsung’s Galaxy S range of Android smartphones hit South Africa towards the end of May.

Initially, the Samsung Galaxy S3 was only available in “marble white”, with manufacturing delays holding back the blue version of the device.

The “pebble blue” model launched in SA during August 2012 at the same price is the white Galaxy S3.

Similar to the marble white and pebble blue models, Samsung SA said that the “garnet red” Galaxy S3 will be available at Samsung brand stores at a recommended retail price of R7,999.
