New low-end Android smartphone from Vodacom

The Vodafone Smart II will be available from Vodacom soon

Vodacom has announced the launch of the Vodafone Smart II, an Android smartphone that the network says is set to cater for a large majority of consumers “who are currently missing out on the smartphone journey.”

In a press statement issued today (5 October 2012), Vodacom said that the smartphone will be available at Vodacom World in Midrand and other participating outlets from 7 October 2012.

The recommended retail price of the device is R1,299, and Vodacom said that it would be available on a special Top Up 99 Yebo4Less package at R79 per month.

According to Vodacom, the device features a brand new Broadcom 21552 chipset with 832 MHz processor and 512 MB of RAM; high-speed 3G HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity; 3.2 megapixel camera with white LED flash; and Assisted GPS.
