Pricing for Microsoft’s Surface will start at $499 for a 32GB device, increasing to $699 for a 64GB tablet with a ‘Black Touch Cover’.

Early on Tuesday, Microsoft listed the new Surface Tablet devices on its online store. This page has been taken down this morning and was replaced with ‘coming soon’.

According to the earlier version of the page, published by TechCrunch, Microsoft will make three versions of the device available:

  • 32GB Surface without a Black Touch Cover for $499
  • 32GB Surface with a Black Touch Cover for $599
  • 64GB Surface with a Black Touch Cover for $699

According to the screenshot Surface Type Covers will be priced at $119 (White) and $129 (Black).

The Microsoft website further stated that pre-orders will be accepted for delivery by 26 October 2012, the same day Windows 8 is set to launch.

South African pricing has not been released, but according to Microsoft technical evangelist Jarrod Hermer, the Surface will not be available locally on the launch day of Windows 8.
