Core Group, the only authorized Apple distributor in South Africa, has announced new, reduced recommended retail pricing for the iPad 3rd generation (aka new iPad). This follows the unveiling of the iPad 4 (aka iPad with Retina display) by Apple last week.

The new iPad 3 pricing brings a reduction of between R500 (in the iPad Wi-Fi 32GB and 64GB) and R1,000 (on the iPad Wi-Fi + 4G 64GB) from the previous pricing.

In its announcement Core Group highlighted that resellers are responsible for determining their own prices for the resale of products.

“Although Core Group may suggest retail prices, these are suggestions only and resellers are entirely free to determine the actual prices at which products will be sold,” the company said.

The following table provides an overview of the previous and new pricing for the iPad 3.
