Pick n Pay this week announced an exclusive partnership with Kobo, which will bring the world-class Kobo eReading platform to South Africa. Content offerings will include works by notable local authors and books in both English and Afrikaans.

The Kobo Touch, which was named Wired Magazine’s number one eReader for 2012, is now available at selected Pick n Pay Hyper and Supermarkets and online at R995.

“In addition, for an introductory period, customers can earn double smart shopper points when buying the Kobo Touch, as well as triple points when purchasing the Kobo Touch pouches and book-style cases,” Pick n Pay said in a press statement.

Marketing Director of Pick n Pay, Bronwen Rohland, expressed the importance of embracing the digital products. “There is no getting away from the fact that the world is becoming increasingly more digitally focussed, and by offering quality digital products at competitive prices we can ensure that these platforms become more accessible to a greater base of South African consumers,” Rohland said.
