While a fourth generation iPad (iPad 4) will cost you more than its predecessor (iPad 3), South African prices for the popular device remain competitive when compared to those in Europe.
Prices advertised in the United States are lower, but they don’t include any form of sales tax. Sales taxes vary by state and county and range from 0% to 11% or more. VAT in South Africa is 14%.
Official distributors of Apple products in South Africa, Core Group, announced the prices for the iPad 4 on Friday (7 December 2012).
Apple’s latest tablet PC will also go on sale this weekend (8–9 December 2012), Core said.
