The Hive – play game

The Hive is an action platform game in which players take on the role of Alex Rig, an investigative reporter who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Whilst researching a missing persons case, Alex is lead to an abandoned town, where he discovers a research facility in need of some further investigation. Alex starts out with a tazer which is good enough to take out a few unsuspecting guards, but eventually he’ll have to start packing some serious heat. The game is set to run in a window, but forcing it to run in 640×480 should solve that problem.

Not-So-Massive Action Game – play game

Not-So-Massive Action Game is an arcade shooter supporting up to two players, and it’s a whole lot of fun. There are plenty of bad guys to shoot, helicopters to fly, and weapon power-ups to collect. There are eight challenges to complete which become progressively, well, challenging. Gameplay usually involves some mixture of swooping into an enemy base using the helicopter, blasting things to pieces, planting bombs all over, and using a grappling hook to disappear like a shadow in the night.

Trajectory – play game

Trajectory is a simple real-time artillery game, good for a coffee break length of play time. It features a two player mode so you can challenge friends and co-workers to a quick bout. The game was recently updated with single player AI. As the player’s craft orbits their home planet, so they must also bombard their enemy. Gravity plays a central role, as projectiles are warped by its effects. Use flares to deflect incoming projectiles. The game has been released in both Windows and Linux builds.

Turbo Turbo Turbo – play game

Turbo Turbo Turbo is a top down racing game, with a bar brawl sub game. It amusingly pokes fun at 8-bit era console game ports which were poorly translated into English from Chinese and/or Japanese originals. The races start out quite easy, but if players persevere to later stages, things become a lot tougher with complex tracks and obstacles to avoid. Should you lose a race, your driving instructor gives a simple choice – beat up all the other racers in a bar brawl, or he’ll break one of your thumbs in a rather graphic manner. Two broken thumbs = game over.

MusicMineSweeper – play game

Minesweeper with a musical twist. It’s pretty much guaranteed that anyone who has held down a desk job in front of a Windows PC will have whittled away at the hours with a few games of addictive Minesweeper. Now, Minesweeper veterans and newcomers alike can experience the wonder of Minesweeper with some musical pizzazz. The only hurdle is the foreign language installer – I installed the game on Windows 7 x64 and then removed the game through control panel with no problems. A virus scan using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 came up with nothing, so all seems to be in the clear.
