Online retailers Kalahari, Phoenix-Tech, and AnimeWorX have opened pre-orders for Sony’s next-gen PS4 gaming console, which is in line with the recommended local retail price of R6,299.

Mario Dos Santos, CEO of Ster Kinekor Entertainment, said in a press statement on 21 August 2013 that he is confident the PS4 will arrive in South Africa before Christmas, with an expected retail price of R6,299.

“The price point, although not officially set due to the uncertainty around the Rand exchange rate, is currently planned at an RRP of R6,299 including VAT and it will not be beyond this for launch. Retail will be communicated to plan at these levels,” said Dos Santos.

Phoenix-Tech has recently reduced the price of one of their pre-order bundles for the PS4. The following table shows the latest Phoenix-Tech PS4 pricing.

After Difference
 Sony PS4 500GB  R6,599  R5,500  -R1099

Online retailer Kalahari has opened its pre-orders for the Playstation 4, pricing Sony’s upcoming console at R6,299. Kalahari has noted that the stock is very limited for the PS4.

Also mentioned was that the specific bundle offers have not been confirmed as this time.

Furthermore, if the Day 1 offer on a bundle changes, then the pre-order will change to the renewed bundle automatically.

The arrival date of the PS4 pre-order states 6 December 2013.

AnimeWorX is offering the Sony PS4 pre-order at a price to match the SKE RRP – R6,299.

AnimeWorX made a promise to customers that those who place their pre-order online will be notified should the console be more expensive than the listed price, and will be refunded in full if the order is cancelled. If the retail price is lower, customers will be refunded the difference.

AnimeWorX also added that they too were waiting for final unit allocations to begin planning distribution to customers.
