Most of the south and the south western parts of Johannesburg suburbs were without electricity on Sunday, City Power said.

“City Power technicians are on site attending to the problem,” said spokesman Sol Masolo.

The affected areas were Hursthill, Eikenhof, Mayfair, Industria, Soweto, Eldorado Park, Nirvana, Nancefield, Pennyville and Baragwanath.

The outage was caused by a loss of power on an 88kv line from Orlando Substation, said Masolo.
