MWEB today unveiled their Uncapped Hosting offering at R19 a month, significantly undercutting other local hosting providers and even many international hosting offerings.

“We are constantly looking for ways to provide consumers with a world-class online experience and, with our new Uncapped Hosting product, supported by Uncapped ADSL, South Africans will be able to afford a convenient, easy to understand package to kick-start their business website without the cost-related and admin intensive concerns,” says Carolyn Holgate, General Manager of MWEB Connect.

MWEB explains that uncapped hosting will “allow South Africans to put their business on the map with all the essential features in a secured shared hosting space”.

MWEB’s fixed rate hosting bundle includes no limit to the amount of traffic to your website which means you’ll incur no additional charges, and uncapped storage space.

Carolyn HolgateThe package also includes a free .co.za domain name and a personalised email address with five additional aliases.

Users will also receive a MySQL database which is easy to deploy and administer and offers a range of benefits for your website, such as listing product catalogues and suppliers details, for example.

The service is locally hosted at MWEB’s South African data centres.

“We have always taken a strong stance in getting start-up businesses off the ground and assisting them in meeting their business technology needs from launch to growth phase. The beauty of Uncapped hosting is that it establishes an online presence for your business or personal use that is both affordable and convenient. In addition, MWEB ADSL customers will get MWEB Uncapped Hosting for free for the first year,” Holgate continues.

MWEB provisions the website, registers it for its customers and renews their domain on an annual basis; ensuring that customers have a domain for life and alleviating all the admin intensive tasks that are required when getting a website online.

“We are extremely proud to be launching Uncapped Hosting at such an affordable price and to make it a reality for South African small business owners and consumers to put their product, brands and name in the market. Together with the launch of Uncapped ADSL in March 2010, we believe that we have found the perfect business solution for small business owners,” concludes Holgate.

MWEB MD Derek Hershaw explains that while there is an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) associated with the offering, it offers truly uncapped bandwidth and uncapped file storage.

There is however a 50MB limit on MySQL database space, but this can be upgraded as required at a small fee.
