People looking for jobs on the internet were warned to be careful about handing over money for "processing" after at least three people have been fleeced this way, Mpumalanga police said on Wednesday.
Superintendent Malesela Ledwaba said people applying for positions, usually outside the country, are informed that they were successful and that they should deposit money — in one case R30,000 — to cover the cost of visas, registration and other related matters.
“Currently we are investigating about three cases of a similar or related nature,” he said.
Ledwaba urged people to confirm the authenticity of the business before losing their “hard earned money”.
