Effective Measure has released its website traffic statistics for December 2015, with News24 ranked as the top South African site.

Effective Measure is the official traffic measurement partner of the IAB South Africa, and provides accurate traffic and demographics statistics for SA’s top websites.

While December is usually a quiet month for local sites, the growth in smartphones and mobile broadband access has seen the best holiday season ever in terms of web traffic.

According to the stats, News24 attracted 5.15 million South African browsers in December – close to its November 2015 traffic.

Gumtree was ranked second with 3.89 million local browsers, followed by Times Live with 2.69 million unique visitors.
