An amendment to the Protection of Personal Information Bill can significantly influence the e-mail spam environment in SA. Your feedback can change it for the better

Parliament is currently considering a proposal made by a member of parliament to amend the definition of “consent” as it is currently set out in the Protection of Personal Information Bill.

If the proposal goes through we will move to an opt-out system where you will be regarded as having consented to receiving more communications if you fail to use the opt-out provided. This may result in more spam.

MyBroadband, with the help of Ellipsis Regulatory Solutions, is planning to provide Parliament with a clear statement which shows the negative impact of the proposed change, and letting the politicians know that South Africans generally do not like having their personal information sold or abused.

To give this submission as much weight as possible we need your feedback on the matter. We made it very easy for you to assist in this matter.
