New statistics from Effective Measure reveal the unique visitors and page views of the top websites among SA Internet users

Recent Effective Measure statistics revealed that Google.co.za, Google.com and Facebook.com are the three most popular websites in South Africa.

The former Effective Measure country head for South Africa, Francois Vorster, recently unveiled the June 2012 statistics about South Africa’s online population.

According to the Effective Measure statistics South Africa’s Internet population is approximately 8.5 million users. The top websites – Google, Facebook and YouTube – all attracted a large percentage of these visitors.

Effective Measure’s panel data revealed that Google.co.za attracted 5.8 million unique South African visitors in June, followed by Google.com with 4.8 million, Facebook with 4.5 million and YouTube with 3.7 million unique SA browsers.

FNB is the top South African website according to the panel data, followed by News 24, Gumtree, Howzit.MSN, ABSA, Standard Bank and IOL.
