Simfy Africa recently told its beta testers that its sister company, Cape Town-based Prezence Digital, is working on a new BlackBerry app for which they expect to release the first beta on 26 February 2013.

“This new app takes a huge leap forward from our previous BlackBerry app,” Simfy promised, adding that it will bring users an “enhanced user interface.”

The reason for the new BlackBerry app; and the decision behind awarding it to Prezence Digital, is because “BlackBerry is so important in our territory,” Simfy said.

BlackBerry isn’t the only platform receiving attention, however, as Simfy Africa’ has released a beta of version 3 of its Android app to testers. They have also invited testers to take the beta of their new iPhone app for a spin.

iPad app coming later

Simfy went on to reveal that they plan to see the iPhone app “evolve into a fully fledged app for the iPad and iPad mini later in the year [2013].”

For now, the new v3 iOS app uses high resolution images that scale for use on iPads while maintaining a crisp quality look and feel, Simfy said.

The new Android app’s interface is also able to scale to cater for the larger displays found on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note and other Android-based tablet devices.
