Facebook changes your displayed email on the sly

Your Facebook email address info is now displayed instead of your primary one

Facebook now displays a user’s “@facebook.com” email address on their profile instead of the email address used to sign up to the social network.

This means that friends browsing your profile will no longer see the Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo mail address you signed up with, as standard.

The mandatory change can be reversed, however. Advice site, Lifehacker has demonstrated a way to get your primary email address to display instead of the Facebook one:

  1. Click on the “about” link on your profile, then scroll down to your email address, then click “Edit” to change the details.
  2. Click on the circle alongside your Facebook email address and change its setting to “Hidden from Timeline”.
  3. Click on the circle alongside your sign-up email address and change the settings to “Show on Timeline”.
  4. Click on the Save button to apply the changes.
