At the I/O conference, Google distributed a version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to attendees which has now been made available to the public, thanks to RootzWiki.
The update was originally intended for GSM Galaxy Nexus smartphones; however, developers have managed to fix a range of bugs and made the version compatible with all Galaxy Nexus models.
The leaked OS is fully functional and no bugs have been reported by users yet. Galaxy Nexus owners will need root access to their phone in order to install the software, however.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean features a new notifications system, Google Now, offline voice dictation and a faster UI thanks to “Project Butler”.
