Sony slaps a price on its 4K “ultra-HD” TV

Sony announced its 84-inch XBR-84X900 TV at the IFA 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin, and the Japanese company has now attached a price to the TV.

When it hits stores in November, the Bravia will retail for $25,000 (R209,930).

The 3D-capable TV can display a massive 3840 x 2160 resolution (four times the number of pixels in a conventional 1080p set), being referred to in the industry as 4K.

According to Sony, the 84-inch 4K LCD TV will be available in South Africa in 2012.
