Twitter has become the most-recent platform for malware attacks, according to security analysts.

Direct messages on Twitter are being used to deliver “backdoor trojans” by leading users through links to Facebook and other sites.

A common message informs users that an “update to YouTube player is needed”, with a link that, when clicked, tries to install “FlashPlayerV10.1.57.108.exe” – a backdoor trojan.

The source of Twitter’s new direct message spam campaign is not yet known.
