A good Internet connection is now one of the priorities for prospective home-buyers when determining where to live, according to a new study.

The study of British home buyers, found that one in ten house hunters confessed to turning away from a property due to a bad Internet connection, while one in five admitted they checked the connection speeds when evaluating the home.

The importance of finding a reliable Internet service provider now ranks above off-street parking and access to local amenities as a deciding factor in making a residential property purchase, the study found.

Director of UK estate agency and property developer, Rightmove, Miles Shipside commented on the report findings, saying: “In this digital age, a fast broadband connection is becoming more and more important for home hunters. People don’t just rely on a good Internet connection for browsing the web, but also television entertainment and working from home.”
