A new service, HoneyMap, shows where user data is being compromised or hacked in real-time.
Set out as a geographical map, HoneyMap uses an hpfeed internet sharing protocol, which collects data from systems (honeypots) mapped with IPs across the globe.
The yellow dots on the map indicate hacking victims, while red dots show the hackers themselves.
Currently, there is a sparse amount of honeypots in place, so the service may not be accurately representative at the moment. That said, it’s a good place to start to implement such a tracking system.
