A Samsung South Africa spokesperson recently told MyBroadband that their official launch date of the Galaxy S4 is 27 April 2013, and that only the 3G model will be on sale in South Africa initially.

According to the spokesperson, the LTE model is pending operator testing, and is expected to follow in two months.

This follows information from Vodacom that it plans to offer the LTE model with a normal quad-core processor in addition to the 3G model with the Exynos Octa processor, though the operator wasn’t specific on timing.

Vodacom has also said that it expects to have the Galaxy S4 available from 26 April 2013, a day ahead of the general availability date Samsung has revealed.

Pre-registrations for the device are available on the Cell C, MTN, and Vodacom websites.

Incredible Connection has also started taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S4 at an off-contract price of R8,499, and said that it would be available from 27 April 2013.

*Update: Vodacom has let us know that it will now only start selling the Samsung Galaxy S4 from 27 April 2013.
