The axed director general in the department of communication, Mamodupi Mohlala has filed papers at the Johannesburg High Court challenging her dismissal, the SABC reported on Wednesday.

Mohlala told the broadcaster that she was challenging the legality of the termination of her employment, as she does not believed  the minister (Siphiwe Nyanda) has powers to terminate her  contract.

"I was appointed by the Cabinet and only the president and the cabinet could terminate my employment."

Nyanda fired her last week for allegedly refusing to sigh certain tenders, the broadcaster said.

Mohlala said she might be have been fired for instituting probe against her superior.
