South Africa has some of the most powerful telecommunications companies in Africa, with MTN, Vodacom, and Telkom dominant in the market.

While most of their growth happened organically, acquisitions also formed part of the strategy of some of these companies.

Consolidation is commonplace in the telecommunications market, because it provides companies with more customers, which in turn allows for economies of scale.

It should be noted that some of the general IT acquisitions have been excluded from the infographic.
