Intel and Huawei today announced that a WiMAX IOT (Interoperability Testing) Lab has commenced operation in Beijing. Based on both WiMAX infrastructure and terminal products provided by Huawei and Intel respectively, the lab replicates a real end-to-end test environment.

According to Intel this environment helps assure comprehensive, commercially operable, mature and rapidly deployable WiMAX solutions for operators around the world. “Specifically, Huawei provided its infrastructure equipment including WiMAX BS (Base Station) DBS3900 which has gained Wave2 certification from the WiMAX Forum, ASN-GW (Access Service Node Gateway) and some CSN equipment.”

“Intel also provided a wide variety of terminals embedded with its WiMAX chipset, including the Intel WiMAX/Wi-Fi Link 5050 Series adapter, available today in Intel processor-based notebooks and netbooks, as well as IOT and performance testing equipments for the IOT lab,” the company said.

“Ensuring interoperability between infrastructure equipment and end-user devices is key to delivering highly-mature and rapidly-deployable solutions,” said Sriram Viswanathan, vice president of Intel Capital and general manager of the WiMAX Program Office, Intel.
