does anybody know how to do this?
im trying to image from an ide laptop to sata laptop but it keep bsod because i imagine it cannot find good drivers
It's a long shot, but oh well...
Go and check in your BIOS...somewhere there are some SATA settings. Change to "Compatibility" or something like that -mode.
Now try again & Good Luck!

ld13 is correct.
Change the Bios setting for that harddrive to anything other than SATA.
I don't think there is a speed difference?
FYI you can use a program like NLite (I suppose you must be using XPSP2) and add the SATA Drivers to the Image that NLite creates for your new XP Cd if you ever need to install XP to that new Laptop with the SATA Drive. Simple as a pimple. :p

yea bttb i have done that already but my main concern is getting this laptop imaged which is not possible because the laptop is ide and the other sata
so when i imagine to the sata drive its not booting because there are not sata drivers installed on the ide installation
in the bios i have very limited things to click on, nothing like a pc :(
Hi again.
Read this (http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1200087025678+28 353475&threadId=1057792) page.
If this is similar to your problem you will have to first extract those files while still on the IDE Laptop and then make a new image before cloning.
Hope this helps.
BTTB.
