Which would you choose?
Polo + sunroof
or
Seat + Sunroof + radio controls on the steering
The Seat is cheaper and faster.

Isn't the SEAT a VW in disguise? Not a fan of VW, especially the overpriced/underpowered Polo GTi, so I'd say SEAT (just watch out for the build quality of the interior)

Well as a 2 door owner, getting out and tilting the seat every time you have more than one passenger gets a bit much..
Aaaah the VW fan boys :D , Fiesta is a good little car read a comparison test in most car magazines Fiesta normally wins as a drivers car. ;)

Seat all the way! Polo GTi doesnt deserve the GTi badge. Not sure about after-sales service from Seat though - based on looks and performance - Cupra!

Cupra! My friend drives the Cupra Diesel, and that thing moves like hell...
But why not look into the Renault ?
Did some Googling the Seat is replaced Jan 09.
Im pressed for time, they both go up 2% on the 1st Feb.

Considering VW questionable build quality (personal experience), I can't say going for its cheaper brand more enticing. Not forgetting the large sums of money your insurance broker will want? :D..either way I'm sure they are fun to drive

Good choice, but I'm sure JK8 is after a car for the boy racer within. :D I'm sure the Torque on the Civic is not nearly enough for JK8!

I heard the SEAT Cupra - although quick - suffers the same turbo issues as ... the Polo TDI. I know someone who's had his replaced in the 8 months he's had it.
At least the 110kw in the GTI is tried and tested

Besides later if I want it faster R5k will go alot further in a turbo car than a NA car!!

The naturally aspirated Fiesta ST puts out the same amount of power as the Polo GTI (turbo'ed) There is no "need" for a turbo in the range you're talking about...unless of course it is purely for bragging rights :D

The naturally aspirated Fiesta ST puts out the same amount of power as the Polo GTI (turbo'ed) There is no "need" for a turbo in the range you're talking about...unless of course it is purely for bragging rights :D
NA cars incur a larger power loss at altitude. The 112kW Fiesta at altitude is probably pushing closer to 100kW whereas the Turbocharged 110kW GTI incurs very little loss, keeping it's power at altitude closer to 110kW.

The Seat is an OLD generation Polo, as in the original Polo Playa. I wouldn't touch it.

The one thing I noticed was the service centers, not all VW shop's does Seat services. If you work in Midrand (example) the cars has to be serviced in Brooklyn (PTA) or in Randburg (JHB), could be painful.

i like the seat .. although i do know a chipped polo gti is faster thatn a golf 5 gti ... and so is a chipped seat, and to boot its lighter on juice :)

resell value of polo is good, with seat you gonna have problem when you gonna sell in near future.
At the moment I'd go for the Seat since its cheaper & has more features, plus the GTi is overpriced. Resale value on Seat isn't great though.
Have you considered the VW TDi?

I was going for the TDi but the prices im getting are all the same, sunroof and leather on all 3 cars and they all under 185, the seat is still the cheapest at 179.
Gti VS Tdi the Gti offers more in terms of spec, FAR better interior for 3000 more....

Why dont you just put in a further 10K - 20K and get a 2nd Hand Golf V GTI? Brand new Polo GTi with sunroof comes to around R195K if i am not mistaken...

Nah I was looking at spending 190 max... I have the cars at very good prices and spending more now with the markets the way they are isnt a good idea...
I have Sunroof and leather for 185.

Oh ok, Have you taken the cars for test drives? 185K is quite a good price...
When i was checking around.. the Dealer said price comes to 200K with leather and Sunroof... :eek: 200K for a Polo ... was a bit steep...
Eish I was such an idiot trying to get extras I missed the damn price increase deadline FAAAARK...
Ok its not so bad but every thousand was worth saving:(
